Tribunal’s directions for the trial of preliminary issues

Microsoft’s appeal against the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal’s ruling to assert jurisdiction over copyright law issues in a standalone abuse lawsuit could enable defendants to scuttle collective claims by linking them to other areas of law if the tech company is successful, ValueLicensing’s chief executive has said.

Competition Appeal Tribunal grants the defendants permission to appeal application.

A pre-trial review hearing (PTR) has been listed to commence at 10:30 am on 31 July 2025 with a time estimate of half a day, to give further direction in relation to the hearing of the preliminary issues trial.
