The Competition Appeal Tribunal said in a preliminary ruling on Wednesday that Microsoft was wrong toargue that software resellers do not have the right to recycle and resell Microsoft products that werebought under a license.
Reseller ValueLicensing is suing Microsoft for allegedly illegally restricting the reselling market by offering discounts to users of perpetual licenses if they switch to a subscription-based system. Subscription-based licenses cannot be resold in the manner that perpetual licenses can because they arerestricted to certain users or devices.
